Bouncing

What is it?: Bouncing is where a player shoots the ball at a wall and recollects it after the ball has bounced off the wall.

Tip: The first two bounce techniques below can be done using break.

Technique(s):

Simple wall bounce - Aim your Uniball ship straight at a wall about 4 centimeters away from it. Put your mouse aimer PAST the wall and directly infront of your ship (check video underneath). Hold forward and then instantly also hold click. Video.

Simple moving wall bounce - Aim your Uniball ship at a 30 to 60 degree angle also again 4 centimeters away from the wall. Put your mouse aimer past the wall again but this time it should be almost directly above/under/side your ship again but ever so slightly to the way your planning to go.  Video.

Advanced double wall bounce - Aim your Uniball ship directly at the corner of two walls. Hold break and bounce on one then the other and turn you ship when needed. Keep doing vice versa until you can bounce against both walls. (Starting off slow and building up speed is the best method to do this bounce). Video.

Advanced fast bounce - Use boost whilst doing moving wall bounce. Aim and everything is pretty much the same just harder to do accurately. Video.

Expert bounce around players - Simply wait till a player is aiming at you rather than the way your going to go, then bounce around them and boost to the ball. Video.

Expert long 'shot' wall bounce - This is the hardest bounce type. This is where you go for a long bounce and hope to recollect it. This can be done off multiple walls. Same as all other bounces but requires good aim and knowledge of interception. Video 1 - Video 2.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blocking

What is it?: Getting infront of a player and holding break.

Technique(s):

Close constant block - To do this technique get very close to the player and hold break. This will make them push you to the place you want to go whilst still slowing them down. This is especially useful for faceoffs. Video.

Glide block - If the player hits hard enough you get a slight glide.

Goal block - This can be used on hockey to keep a player from defending. Position yourself near the middle but slightly to the left/right or up/down and block a player.

Hit and go block -  Wait for the opponent to hit the back of your ship and then go forward a little from the push you get from the player. Keep doing this repeatedly to drive someone mad :). Video (blue player demonstrates this move).

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Boosting

What is it?: Boosting is where a player uses their ship's fuel.

Technique(s):

Super boost - Repeatedly tap boost only without holding forward or any other key but you may steer using left and right. This makes you semi-glide and gain more speed. Video.

When to boost -  Getting back to defence, bouncing sometimes, faceoff, fumble sometimes, juke, shooting sometimes, gliding (beginning) and blocking.

When not to use boost - Defending (try reserve until necessary), scoring in duels, basically try save all the boost you can as it's what usually changes the game i find.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Defending

What is it?: Self explanatory.

Technique(s):

Dive - Rush at a player and try to hit them. If you miss it is hard to get back to defence so be very careful. Video 1 (Hit) - Video 2 (Miss).

Double+ - Get 2 or more players to get a person with the ball (3 players known as a triple). Usually done at either side like a sandwich however if performed incorrectly it could result in opposition getting a goal as the players can not return to defence.

'Perfect' hit - If a player hits another player ever so slightly whilst boosting around them they can usually collect the ball. It can also be done hitting the back of a player and collecting the ball as they try to fumble. This could be known as a 'perfect' hit however is not used amongst players as Uniball terminology. Video.

Pressure - Keep pressuring a player by always aiming the same direction of their ship so that they can not sneak past you and try pressure them into a corner or wait until they make a mistake. Video.

Shot defence / Line defence - Stay on the goal line and hold shoot. Video 1 - Video 2.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Faceoff

What is it?: The respawn ball time.

Tip: Always try wait or hold time till your fuel is almost full. Fuel wins faceoff!!!

Technique(s):

Constant block on the way to the ball - Get infront of the player and hold block. Aim your ship the opposite horizontical or verticle way to your opponent (e.g. if your enemies ship is horizontal then you should be verticle or vice versa). Move forward and backward to keep blocking until you win the faceoff because your being pushed towards the ball. Video.

Get to the ball and block - This requires racing back to the ball and waiting for the player to collide with them directly. Be careful not to miss as this is most dangerous method but very rewardable if you collide as it makes the opponent lose all their speed. Video 1 - Video 2 (I'm the blue player).

Getting around the player and blocking - The back of the ship is the easiest to push away from the ball as they no longer hold the advantage of boost. You want to rush around them and then block them until you win the face off. Use boost to get around them but savour some to block them too. Video (I'm the blue player).

Hitting in middle - This usually requires boosting to collide the first couple of times then holding block and boosting at the player. Video.

Lose and regain/Predict - If you know you can not win a faceoff there is still chance you can win the ball by predicting in the direction they will shoot. If you wait behind them until the ball is just finished spawning then move to the side of them they will fire the ball and be pushed back by it so you can race to win the ball or they shoot it into you if you set off just before they shoot. Video.

Hit and go block x4 - I worked it out to require 4 blocks on the way back to the ball so if you wait until the player hits your ship 4 times whilst going forward slightly you will win the faceoff. Video.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fumbling/Gravity

What is it?: Using gravity to pull the ball to your ship after been knocked.

Technique(s):

Boost instantly - Boost just enough to pull the ball to your ship. Video 1 - Video 2.

Hold backward - Just hold backward (trying to get infront the ball) until the ball pulls to your ship. Video.

Hold forward - Just hold forward (trying to get infront of the ball) until the ball pulls to your ship. Video.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gliding

What is it?: Getting momentum by wall ship bouncing (see further down) until you reach an unreachable speed.

Technique(s):

Holding mouse button - Read the not holding mouse technique first! To glide without holding the mouse down is the harder skill. This requires closer movement to the ship rather than trying to be faster. Gliding takes a lot of practise so just keep attempting it. Video - Video 2 (Glided through wall).

Not holding mouse button - To do this get 2 walls about 5 centimeters apart from each other and get about 1 centimeter away from a wall. Then shoot the ball forward which repels you backwards and makes your ship bounce then instantly after hitting the wall hold boost and collect the ball then you can do either of the wall ship bounces. Keep repeating wall ship bounces till you gain speed. Video (of course it does not have to be miniball (hockey is best to learn glide, behind goalie)).

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juking

What is it?: Stopping and starting to try and avoid or get around a ship.

Technique(s):

Break and boost - When going towards an opponent break suddenly turn your ship and boost around them. Video (this video shows boost and break aswell).

Boost and break - Boost downwards or upwards then break and whilst breaking change direction and boost round the player.

Confusing opponents - Players usually try predict your moves so you want to be one step ahead at all times.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Passing

What is it?: Self explanatory.

Technique(s):

Simple direct pass - This can be any direction but it is just straight to the other player. (Remember to pass slightly infront of a player if they are moving)

Advanced back pass - Passing back is more advanced because it's harder to aim. Your ship controls the power of the shot. Depending where your passing back to this can be quite hard.

Advanced wall bounce pass - Passing using a bounce off of a wall.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Racing

What is it?: Self explanatory.

Technique(s):

Aiming ship - Aim ship straight on straights and begin to turn before getting to a corner.

Blocking - Get infront of players and break if they are too close to you until you recover boost. Look at hit and go in blocking.

Boosting - Use super boost at all times and try reserve some fuel if possible.

Corner cuts - If you cut a corner correctly you go 1/3 to 1/2 way into it with your ship and not bounce off it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Shooting

What is it?: Self explanatory however a player shoots the ball into their OWN COLOURED goal.

Tip: Speed of ship = power of shot (i.e. going forwards = fast shot, going backwards = slow shot)

Technique(s):

Close shot - Right next to goalie shot, aim 0 to 80 degrees (depending on where you are) for this shot. Video 1 - Video 2 - Video 3.

Mid shot - Mid shot is just a shot from about half way out from the goal. Simply shoot just below/above or next to (if the map is horizontal or verticle) a corner of the net. Video 1 - Video 2.

Long shot - Long shots are generally hard for new players but are really simple once got used to. Simply aim the aimer about 2-3 cm below or above the corner when shooting. Video 1 - Video 2.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wall Ship Bounce

What is it?: Shooting before/after your ship reaches a wall to gain speed.

Technique(s):

After hitting wall - Super boost at a wall with your mouse aimer infront of your ship and hit the wall then once you hit the wall instantly shoot the ball. Do not press any keys after shooting. Video.

Before hitting wall - Super boost at a wall with your mouse aimer aimed behind you then shoot before hitting the wall. Do not press any keys after shooting. Video.
